The Great White Hope Volume IV

The Great White Hope mix series has traditionally been our attempt to showcase diversity in the sound of Soul Clap. Volume I was an original fusion of acapella's and edits of beat driven deep house music. Volume II followed a vinyl digging trip to NYC and Volume III was our first mix of all original production and remixes. It should only be so fitting that The Great White Hope Volume IV is a mix that defines the Soul Clap sound of now as we begin our great journey! Make Love With Soul Clap - A Valentine's Mix For Boldfacers

Another holiday, another special Soul Clap mix. This time we were asked to create a Valentine's Day experience in conjunction with our interview on Boldfacers, which sounded good to us (and hopefully to your ears), because, believe it or not we've never made a Valentine's Day mix before. Our goal for "Make Love With Soul Clap" is to create a journey from an ocean of seduction, to a freaky late-night dancefloor to the bedroom and then beyond, to the outer reaches of the galaxy, before finally cooling down with the rhythm of romance. This is a mix designed for you to put on with your lover or freak-out to on your own, but most of all make sure to have it ready and waiting on Valentine's Day.

Thanksgiving In The Basement - A Mix For DailyCandy

When we got the call from DailyCandy that they wanted Soul Clap to create a playlist of music with a Thanksgiving theme, we knew exactly what to do: make a sweaty basement dance-party mix to help work of those huge holiday meals. In the holiday spirit, we wanted a vibe for the whole family to enjoy and that meant digging for some special edits and working across our entire musical spectrum, including: disco, funk, hip-hop, r&b and even a dash of house. Big shout out to DJ Kon, Trus'me, Social Disco Club, The Revenge and The Popular Peoples Front for supporting the mix and supplying us with exclusive music and to DailyCandy and Moxie for the opportunity.

Soul Clap On Proton Radio

A couple weeks ago we had the opportunity to do a guest mix for our homie Dres' monthly show on Proton Radio. The show is called Perceptions and it's one of the longest running shows on Proton, which has become one of the top dance music radio destinations on the interweb. With such a great opportunity for exposure we made sure to include a bunch of upcoming Soul Clap releases and remixes, including the Paulo Clap remix of Fase, Instafix, our remix of Cates & dpL and of course Astroturfing off the Extraction US comp. Most of this music isn't coming out for awhile, but you can check it out now!

Live@Home for Fully Fitted

In August '08 we were called upon by Spankrock DJ and secret Boston resident, Chris Devlin to contribute to his Fully Fitted blog's Live@Home mix series. Here's how we described the mix for him: "When Mr. Devlin asked us to do this mix we knew what we had to do to get our message across. So we hit the vinyl library and pulled some of our favorite classic house jams and also some forgotten/slept on garage classic. Sure we like playing eclectic styles as much as the next DJs, but our name ain't Giles Peterson, dig. Especially with that classic NYC garage house sound back in such a big way in '08 it seemed appropriate to pull some of our favorites and put 'em all down in one place. Shout out to Derrick Carter circa '96 for the vibes."

Airdrop QuackParty @ Bar 13, NYC

Soul Clap LIVE @ Yelp's Modulations / MIT Museum

Our first time ever performing a set that wasn't on 2 decks. It wasn't even both of us on 4 decks and 2 mixers. It was Elyte & Cnyce performing on 2 mixers, 1 laptop, 1 turntable, 1 tape deck, 1 Korg MS2000 synth and 1 Kozoh Vespa delay box. It included about 50% original material and the other 50% totally mixed and edited wierdness. It happened at Modulations (pics by here) and we recorded the whole damn thing

Veuve Clicquot Launch @ Liberty Hotel

With over almost six hours to work with at the launch of Bostons first exclusively Veuve Clicquot champagne bar (Le Grande Dame Bar) at the Liberty, we really got a chance to run the musical spectrum. The result was a set deepness, new disco and house music too good not to share.

The Roots Of Soul Clap on WHRB Radio

Quote from the blog from May 2007: "Last week we had the opportunity (thanks to Dave Day) to throw down a live set of house and techno classics as part of Harvard Radio's 12 hour roots of house and techno marathon hosted by this dude and his boy William. They called it "From the Autobahn to I-94: The Roots of Chicago House and Detroit Techno" but we kind of took it a little broader with alot of NYC tracks and some UK stuff. It felt great to dust off some old vinyl and throw down a live mix on the radio. All the tracks are from 1990 and before and are some of our most major influences..."

The Great White Hope Vol. 1

We did this mix in 2006 for our annual WMC giveaway at the time we didn't know it was the first in a series. It kind of marks the beginning of our transition into using more tech sounds. It's also the first time we did tons of edits for a mix. Make sure to pay attention to the Chicago mixmaster style intro.
